Woodland burial is better for the environment than traditional interment or cremation and this group was formed to improve the Woodland Cemetery, situated in Gartness Road, Killearn.

We hope the cemetery will become a peaceful wooded area, a haven for wildlife and a place where relatives and friends of the departed can sit and enjoy the solitude.

With the aid of grants from the Community Pride Fund, the Paul Trust and generous individual donations, the group created an attractive seating area at the entrance, surrounded by a dry stone wall, a central standing stone and a plaque of the poem Woodland Burial, by Pam Ayres.

The seats are designed to take memorial plaques and were made by Green Aspirations Scotland using fallen oak trees donated by Carbeth Home Farm.

There are plans to plant a wild flower meadow after Stirling Council have completed drainage works and are seeking funding for purchasing and planting wild flower seeds. For details, or if you wish to donate, please email us.
