A new community project – involving local people, schools and businesses, too – has been initiated to explore and explain the heritage of our village and promote use of footpaths and cycle paths in the area – one day possibly linking the Glen with the West Highland Way and beyond.

The group has its own website, www.killearnheritage.org.uk, where you will find personal reminiscences, photographs and information about the village .

The first project has been completed with the development of a trail which leads residents and visitors through the village, past intriguing sites and finishing with coffee and cake, or a glass of something stronger, in one of our local hostelries!  Visit the website for more information and follow the trail to learn about Killearn’s fascinating history.

The group have also been excavating the site of an historic building in Killearn Glen, led by professional archaeologists. You can find detail of the dig on the Killearn Heritage website here.

If you would like to join the group, help with any of its projects or simply seek more information, please email us heritage@kcfc.co.uk.
